Chapter 04
§4Platform-wise best practices
Every platform has its own rules of engagement. Set up right, post what works there, and follow the rules that matter for 2026.
4.1
Instagram — primary channel
Setup
- Professional (Business) account, linked to the campus Facebook Page. Required for Insights, scheduling, and any future API integration.
- Handle:
jaipuria.[city]— lowercase, no underscores or numbers. - Bio: campus name, board, grades, city, link. Contact button configured.
- Highlights: Admissions Campus Results Events Faculty — covers from Group template.
What to post
- Reels are the reach engine. 60%+ of your posting effort. 15–30s, hook in the first 2 seconds, vertical, native audio or trending audio (check licensing).
- Carousels are the depth engine. 4–6 cards, first card must earn the swipe.
- Stories are the loyalty engine. Daily. Polls, quizzes, question stickers, countdowns.
- Single images — sparingly, only when the photo is genuinely excellent.
Rules
- Post 4:5 (1080×1350) for feed images, not 1:1 — 4:5 occupies 25% more screen.
- Reels: 1080×1920, keep text/logo 250px clear of top and bottom. Reel covers crop to 4:5 in feed and 3:4 on the grid — centre your title.
- Trending audio: only from Instagram’s in-app library. Never upload copyrighted music — schools have had audio muted mid-campaign.
- Best posting windows for Indian school audiences: 7:30–9:00 AM and 8:00–10:00 PM.
- Never boost from Instagram’s in-app “Boost” button. All paid runs through Ads Manager centrally (§8.5).
2026 note — Instagram topic controls
Users can now add or remove topics from their Reels feed. Content that clearly signals its subject (education, parenting, kids’ activities) gets better topical routing. Say what the content is about, explicitly, in the first line of the caption.
